Brian Baum – Varsity Head Coach: Brian is entering his 18th season as the head coach of the CCA Boys’ Basketball Program.  The San Diego native was selected to start the program when the school opened in2004.  He joined CCA after being the first assistant at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.  Brian also spent two years at San Marcos High School working with their programs. While coaching at Emory University, Brian earned his Master’s Degree in Sports Administration at Georgia State University.  He completed his undergraduate work in Economics at Colorado College where he was a four-year starter on the basketball team and finished in the top ten in scoring, assists, and three-pointers made.

Larry Blackman – Varsity Assistant Coach: Larry is a San Diego native, in his 13th year as an assistant coach.  He attended Grossmont High School where he was an all-league performer and a member of the 1971-1972 CIF champions in football and basketball.  He attended Willamette University, playing on the 1975 Northwest conference basketball team that made it to the NAIA tournament.  Larry has a son Zach, a graduate of CCA, who was a two-year captain of the basketball and lacrosse teams.  Larry owns First Corporation Benefits, a real estate and insurance advisory firm.

Ryan Fleming – Varsity Assistant Coach: Ryan is entering his 10th year as a varsity assistant coach. While attending Carlsbad High School he was a member of the 2000 CIF champion basketball team. He went on to play two years at Mira Costa College under Hall of Fame coach Clete Adelman. Shortly after he became the Mira Costa men’s assistant for four years. Currently he is studying to receive a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is the founder of the basketball training service RISE Basketball Systems and of the performance training service Persevere Performance Project.

Sean Keenan – Junior Varsity Head Coach: Sean is returning for his 3rd year as head Junior Varsity Coach, and fifth year in the program. He joined the staff after four years of coaching high school basketball in Durham, NC. He has also served as the JV head coach at Independence High School in Bakersfield, CA and Varsity head coach at The Preuss School, in La Jolla. Sean was born in Los Angeles and attended high school in Bakersfield, CA where he earned all-league honors his Junior and Senior seasons. After high school, he studied mathematics at UC San Diego where he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees. Sean is a math teacher at CCA.

Ryan Michaels – Junior Varsity Assistant Coach: Ryan is entering his 3rd year with the program. He played for the Canyon Crest basketball team from (2014-2017) and has been involved in the program ever since. Prior to coaching, Ryan was the captain of the CCA varsity team for two years and a four-year varsity starter. He holds school records in career scoring average and three-pointers made and ranks in the CIF San Diego Section top ten for career three-pointers made. He then went on to play at Miramar College, where he played an integral role to the team earning a state playoff berth. Ryan went on to transfer to the University of San Diego, where he majored in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Real Estate. 

Jason Bernabei – Frosh Head Coach: Coach J" is entering his 2^nd season at CCA, after being hired in early2020, and since working regularly with varsity players. In addition to his role as Men's Varsity Assistant, he will be head-coaching the Freshman Boys team. Prior to his affiliation with CCA, Coach J served as Varsity Head Coach for San Diego Jewish Academy Men's Basketball, 2017-2019. He founded and directed ALLIN SD Youth Basketball, prior to his five years and counting as a Head Coach for Boys & Girls Club of San Dieguito Bulldogs AAU Basketball.
